questions to ask yourselves
After years of recovery, self-reflection, and mental health maintenance, I’ve learned the best way to heal is to ask yourself questions. It is so beneficial to dig deep and figure out not just who you are but why and what you are as well. Once understanding is given, change can occur. For me, the questions came automatically, and my reaction was to flick them away thinking the answers would cause more stress. But that was just avoidance and although sometimes I fight, I almost always answer the questions now. So, I invite you to ask yourself the questions below and watch as a renewed understanding of yourself causes you to love and be gentle with your existence.
1. Why? (for almost everything)
2. Are you going to regret this afterwards?
3. Do you believe that you can’t do it?
4. Why do you say those things to yourself?
5. Is this a response to the trauma you endured?
6. Why do you think your trauma isn’t enough?
7. Who do you want to be? (make it happen)
8. Why don’t you schedule your dreams?
9. What are your goals and values?
10. In this moment, are you taking care of myself?
11. What are you afraid of and why?
12. Are you the problem in this situation?
13. What caused you to feel this way?
14. How can you grow, change, and be better?
15. Are you a role model?
16. Are you trying as hard as you can?
17. Does failure mean that you’re going to give up?
18. Which is worse: failing or trying?
19. How could you look at that differently?
20. What are your flaws?
21. What is your purpose in life?
22. Who are you?
23. Why not ask *person* for advice?
24. What have you learned from the experience?
25. What are my bad habits and how do I stop them?
26. What are you grateful for?
27. What makes you happy?
28. What are you feeling in this moment and why?
29. Am I being kind to myself?
30. What is holding me back from the live I want to live?
I think I’ll have to do a part two. I hope your brains are filled with the answers!
